City of Beacon Police Officer Peter Boutros was enjoying his day off with his wife on Sunday afternoon, and while they were at the train station, the Beacon PBA said that he heard a woman screaming after her child had fallen fully into the gap between the train and platform.
Boutros’ wife was able to hit a button to notify train staff, while Boutros jumped down to the ground, reaching down for the child, putting a part of his body between the train and the platform. He then pulled the child to safety and alerted paramedics to evaluate.
In the end, no injuries were reported and all parties walked away from the incident safely.
Boutros became a City of Beacon police officer in March, 2016.
